WASHINGTON — On July 14, Congressman Ronny Jackson (TX-13) issued the following statement in response to the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act’s (NDAA) passage in the U.S. House of Representatives. Due to Jackson’s efforts, countless provisions were included in the bill that will ensure substantial benefits for Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, and the thriving defense-focused workforce within Texas' Thirteenth Congressional District.

Jackson said: “The NDAA is one of the most important bills that comes before Congress. As a former Navy Rear Admiral, I know the vital role this legislation plays for our national security. Not only does this year's bill ensure we have the weapons systems and equipment our servicemembers need, it makes a needed course correction to restore the military’s focus to fighting and winning wars. Provisions that I successfully included will keep Texas’ Thirteenth Congressional District at the heart of supporting our military, provide historic pro-life protections, and prohibit funds from going towards the Biden administration’s harmful diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. I couldn’t be prouder that the Jackson-Roy amendment to stop the Department of Defense’s illegal abortion policy was included in this year’s NDAA. The days of the radical left ignoring the law and pushing their destructive social agenda in the military are done. I absolutely will not waiver in my defense of the rule of law, thereby ensuring that taxpayer money intended for our military is not used to kill innocent babies. This bill ensures that our servicemembers can focus on their jobs and their families instead of being used for the political gain of the Biden administration. I take tremendous pride in advocating for the defense priorities of Texas’ Thirteenth Congressional District and am extremely proud of how the FY24 NDAA will benefit our district. I enthusiastically supported this legislation today on the floor, and I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate to ensure these provisions are signed into law.”

Jackson spoke on the House Floor in favor of the FY24 NDAA, and he, along with his colleague Representative Chip Roy (TX-21), successfully included a historic pro-life amendment to repeal the Department of Defense’s illegal and immoral abortion policy.
