Congressman Ronny Jackson of Texas has reintroduced the Reimbursing Border Communities Act of 2025. The proposed legislation aims to assist border communities in recovering from what Jackson describes as the negative impacts of previous border policies under the Biden-Harris administration. The bill seeks to establish a grant program within the Department of Homeland Security, allowing these communities to apply for reimbursement for security measures they implemented during that period.

Jackson expressed his concerns, stating, “During President Trump’s first term, our country was safe, and our southern border was secure, but Joe Biden and Kamala Harris allowed millions of illegal migrants to flow into our country, leaving our border communities to deal with the chaos, crime, and devastation that followed.” He further emphasized the urgency of passing this bill by saying, “While President Trump is thankfully re-securing our country, unfortunately, our border communities are still facing the consequences of the previous failed administration.”

The bill has garnered support from several cosponsors including Representatives Monica De La Cruz (TX-15), Dan Crenshaw (TX-02), Morgan Luttrell (TX-08), Jake Ellzey (TX-06), August Pfluger (TX-11), Lance Gooden (TX-05), Brian Babin (TX-36), Brandon Gill (TX-26), Pete Sessions (TX-17), and Paul Gosar (AZ-09).
