There were 12 Pacific Islander students enrolled in Canyon ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 7.7% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Canyon ISD schools welcomed 11,075 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Pacific Islander students comprised 0.1% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Canyon ISD roughly covers schools within Randall County and has a main office in Canyon.

Among the 21 schools in Canyon ISD schools, Greenways Intermediate School recorded the highest enrollment of Pacific Islander students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of four students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
