Amazon is requesting a property tax abatement from the City of Amarillo for a new $100 million warehouse and distribution center.
The proposed 1 million-square-foot facility will be in the area of Northeast 24th Street and Loop 335, according to the notice of tax abatement consideration posted on the City of Amarillo website. The facility itself is expected to cost $70 million while equipment is expected to cost $30 million.
The Amarillo City Council will consider the tax abatement application on Jan. 26. The meeting will be conducted by video conference to help slow the spread of COVID-19, the notice states.
Amazon Services LLC is requesting the tax abatement along with ET Amarillo, LLC and property owner Happy Horizons.
