Congressman Ronny Jackson from Texas has reintroduced a bill aimed at increasing transparency in the export control process for American goods and technologies. The Maintaining American Superiority by Improving Export Control Transparency Act seeks to authorize disclosures to Congress of each export control license application, including details about the applicant, recipient, decision made, and compliance measures.

Representative Sara Jacobs from California is co-leading this bill in the House, while Senator Jim Banks from Indiana is advocating for its companion bill in the Senate.

"The growing threat and cooperation of adversarial nations only underscore the importance of ensuring greater transparency and accountability in America’s export control process,” said Rep. Ronny Jackson. He emphasized that this legislation is crucial for supporting national security efforts while maintaining technological innovation.

Senator Jim Banks commented on the issue of sensitive technology potentially being sold to firms linked to foreign military entities: “Our export controls too often fail to prevent sensitive American technology from being sold to firms tied to the Chinese military.” He added that his bipartisan legislation aims to provide Congress with necessary information to safeguard American technologies.

Rep. Sara Jacobs expressed her support for the initiative: “I’m proud to support this bipartisan legislation to ensure more transparency around what the United States exports from nuclear materials to chemicals to high-end technology.”

The text of the bill is available for public access.
