There were 657 students enrolled in Panhandle ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.1% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.3% of them were boys, and 46.7% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 80.8% of the Panhandle ISD total enrollment.

Panhandle ISD roughly covers schools within Carson County with its main office in Panhandle.

Among the three schools in Panhandle ISD, Panhandle Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 317 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
