WASHINGTON — On September 14, Representatives Ronny Jackson (TX-13), August Pfluger (TX-11), and Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-14) reintroduced legislation to defund the Biden Administration’s “Disinformation Governance Board” at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This legislation will prohibit the DHS from forming another disinformation board and seeks to redirect the agency to refocus its priorities on homeland security, not controlling what they deem as "disinformation."

Jackson said: "The Biden Administration’s relentless fight to censor and control Americans’ speech under the alias of “disinformation” must be stopped. That is why I am proud to be working alongside Representatives Pfluger and Greene to introduce a bill that prohibits the use of Federal funds from being used to establish a Disinformation Governance Board at the Department of Homeland Security. The real champions of “disinformation” are these self-proclaimed “disinformation experts” that make up this board at DHS. Their only goal is to stay in power by censoring, suppressing, and labeling anything they don’t find suitable to their radical narrative as “disinformation.” This board must be demolished and every corrupt, radical, and self-righteous bureaucrat that is or has served on it should be held accountable."

Pfluger said: “Partisan government officials running a 'disinformation board' sounds ridiculous to most people, yet the Biden Administration tried to control the speech of American citizens. My legislation ensures that absolutely no federal dollars can be spent setting up another Disinformation Governance Board at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). DHS should be focused on securing the border and preventing terrorist attacks, not fact-checking social media, and censoring Americans. I’m proud to work with my colleague on the Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, and fellow Texan, Rep. Ronny Jackson, in introducing this legislation to protect free speech."

Greene said: “Our nation's bedrock principle is the freedom to express our opinions and ideas openly, without government interference. Unfortunately, the Biden regime has taken a troubling path, actively censoring Americans and viewpoints they disagree with. They even established a Communist-style 'Disinformation Governance Board' to carry out their censorship agenda. Our government should never censor its own citizens, yet the Biden regime boldly did so until public outrage forced it to be disbanded. I am proud to co-lead this critical legislation to ensure that a 'Disinformation Governance Board' never finds its place in our government again.”
