CITY OF AMARILLO TEXAS: Two Council Meetings to be In-Person

City of Amarillo Texas issued the following announcement on Aug. 25

In accordance with state law passed by the Texas Legislature in 2019 related to tax rates (Senate Bill 2), Amarillo City Council will meet in-person on Sept. 8 and Sept. 15 at the Amarillo Civic Center Grand Plaza.

The in-person meetings will include a public hearing and votes on a city tax rate and city budget for 2020-2021. The meetings are being held at the Amarillo Civic Center Grand Plaza to maintain social distancing policies. Face masks are required at the Amarillo Civic Center.

The Sept. 8 meeting begins at 4 p.m., following the normally-scheduled meeting of Amarillo City Council via ZOOM at 1 p.m. This meeting will include a public hearing on the city tax rate and city budget, as well as votes on the first reading of each item.

The Sept. 15 meeting will begin at noon. This meeting will include the second and final reading of the city tax rate and city budget, as well as the related vote by Amarillo City Council.
