65 percent of applicants to West Texas A & M University were admitted for fall 2018

At West Texas A & M University, 78 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 58 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Canyon enrolled 10,029 students in fall 2018, including 7,376 in undergraduate and 2,653 in graduate programs, data shows. 13.8 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

85 percent of undergraduates are residents of Texas, and 13 percent are residents of other states. 2 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (57 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (30 percent).

The school admitted 65 percent of the 5,427 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 34 percent enrolled.
