CITY OF AMARILLO TEXAS: Amarillo Economic Development Corporation Releases Statement Regarding COVID-19

Corona

City of Amarillo Texas issued the following announcement on March 18

The Amarillo Economic Development Corporation (Amarillo EDC) is dedicated to supporting, strengthening and diversifying our local economy.

We recognize that recent events and the potential impact of COVID-19 on our business climate is unpredictable and unprecedented. However, the businesses, citizens, and economy of Amarillo remain resilient and strong. During difficult times we must remember to continue supporting our friends and neighbors as West Texans have for generations. We encourage you to shop locally when possible and to support the guidance and directives issued by our community leadership.

There are already numerous small business financial support efforts being issued at a national and local level. If you are a business owner, we encourage you to reach out to the Small Business Development Center, the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission, the West Texas Enterprise Center and to our office to see what options may be available to support your organization at this time.

While the Amarillo area currently does not have any confirmed cases of COVID-19, it is important for residents to continue to take precautions and make sure they are equipped with updated information. The City of Amarillo, in coordination with Potter County, Randall County and the City of Canyon, has announced a COVID-19 Status Level Chart for public education, awareness and updated factual information regarding coronavirus. We urge residents to check the status each day on the City of Amarillo’s Facebook page and online at www.amarillopublichealth.org.

The Amarillo EDC is prepared to continue supporting our community and area businesses during this challenging time.
