River Road ISD schools Education: 21 African American students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 21 African American students enrolled in River Road ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 10.5% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that River Road ISD schools welcomed 1,297 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 1.6% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

River Road ISD roughly covers schools within Potter County and has a main office in Amarillo.

Among the four schools in River Road ISD schools, River Road High School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 11 students.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
