There were 1,297 students enrolled in River Road ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.2% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.2% of them were girls, and 49.8% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 62.6% of the River Road ISD total enrollment.

River Road ISD roughly covers schools within Potter County with its main office in Amarillo.

Among the four schools in River Road ISD, River Road High School recorded the highest enrollment of 402 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
