AMARILLO COLLEGE: Most AC classes transitioning to tech-supported format on Oct. 26

Ac

Amarillo College issued the following announcement on Oct. 8

Amarillo College campuses will remain open and fully operational when the second 8-week session of the fall semester begins; however, most traditional lecture classes will transition to a tech-supported format.

Beginning on Oct. 26, the majority of lecture-style classes which have been delivered at least partially in person since the semester began, will be conducted only remotely – and continue in that fashion for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.

Exceptions include most labs, healthcare and technical education courses, and courses in the arts – hands-on classes – all of which, barring a compulsory COVID-related shift, will continue meeting in person.

Students can find out how these changes affect their schedules by logging in to AC Connect. The new "My Classes" section shows a personalized breakdown listing the delivery method of each course.

“Since the fall semester began in August, our faculty have been performing the monumental and complicated task of teaching in-person and remote classes simultaneously, juggling their course delivery through a variety of modalities,” said Sadie Newsome, media director at AC.

“Shifting to remote, tech-supported course delivery will simplify the educational process both for faculty and for students,” she said. “And because all our facilities will remain open and accessible, we encourage all our students to come to campus as often as they like to access technology, tutoring, advising, counseling or anything else we normally offer.”
