Congressman Ronny Jackson of Texas has introduced a joint resolution to designate May 5 through May 8, 2025, as SOF Week. This initiative aims to recognize the significant contributions of Special Operations Forces (SOF) in safeguarding national security interests globally. Senator Joni Ernst is leading the resolution in the Senate.

“As Co-Chair of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) Caucus and Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee’s Subcommittee on Intelligence and Special Operations, I am honored to advocate for the most lethal and capable force on the planet,” said Rep. Ronny Jackson.

Rep. Richard Hudson emphasized the critical role played by SOF personnel in unconventional warfare and counterterrorism efforts: “From Fort Bragg to Naval Base Coronado and everywhere in between, the men and women of U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF) are a critical part of our national security.”

Rep. Scott Peters highlighted his commitment to supporting Naval Special Warfare’s Headquarters in Coronado: “These servicemembers and their families need the best America can provide — quality of life, training, equipment, facilities, and so much more.”

Rep. Kathy Castor underscored her support for SOF Week as an opportunity to advance national security through innovation: “The extraordinary Special Operations Forces (SOF) deserve recognition and thanks for their service to America.”

Senator Joni Ernst also praised SOF’s contribution during times of Great Power Competition: “Our special operators represent the very best of our nation’s force.”

The bill text is available for review.
